History Renovations to Cherry Park, which included the swimming pool, were set to begin in 1944. However, because of U.S. involvement in World War II, renovations were delayed.
On July 29, 1947, City of Weatherford residents approved on a bond issue to make renovations and additions to Cherry Park, including the swimming pool. Cherry Park pool was officially opened to the public at 6 p.m. on Saturday, June 4, 1949. The newspaper said that though it was "impatiently awaited by city swimmers," it opened "without fanfare."
During the off season of 2006 and 2007, Cherry Park Pool underwent a much needed renovation. At this time the current bathhouse, and pool office, were all added as well as the waterslides and splashpad. The 2007 renovations resulted in the current state of the pool.
